The Deschutes Flying Club is a thriving non-profit flying club located at the Bend Airport (KBDN). Since its founding, the club has grown into a vibrant community of aviation enthusiasts, with members actively flying our aircraft, receiving training, and embarking on memorable trips throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Our mission is to make flying more accessible and affordable by allowing a group of pilots to share the costs of aircraft ownership, maintenance, insurance, and hangar expenses. Whether you’re a student pilot building hours, a seasoned aviator, or someone looking to rekindle your passion for flying, the Deschutes Flying Club offers a supportive environment to help you achieve your aviation goals.

Initially the club started with a 1978 Cessna 172N, N738MR. It had been newly-updated with new paint, updated avionics, dual Garmin G5s, 4-place intercom, and has a more powerful 180 HP Lycoming engine STC with increased gross weight. Useful load is 986 lbs.; a true 4 place airplane.

It is set up as a basic VFR aircraft and has a Garmin GTX 335 Transponder with internal GPS and an Artex 345 ELT (406), along with a King KX 175B NavCom.

JOIN THE CLUB

If you’re ready to take your passion for aviation to new heights, joining the Deschutes Flying Club is easy! Start by completing the Membership Application below.

As space is available for new members, invitations to join will be sent out based on the application submission date. At that time, the $500 one-time initiation fee will be due, along with your first month's dues, and then you’ll also schedule your aircraft checkout(s) to get started flying with the club.

We look forward to welcoming you to our community of enthusiastic pilots!

Membership Application

The Deschutes Flying Club is an equal opportunity organization and will not allow discrimination based upon age, ethnicity, ancestry, gender, national origin, disability, race, size, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, or any other status prohibited by applicable law.

Growing our Fleet

We are seeking additional aircraft to add to the club via lease. When an aircraft is leased to the club it can reduce expenses for the aircraft owner since the club would cover the cost of the hangar, insurance, some of the maintenance costs, plus an annual lease and hourly rate based on flight time.

You can learn more on our Leaseback page and please spread the word to aircraft owners you know!
